Brussels Transportation
The public transportation in Brussels is quite extensive and you can get from place to place using the metro, tram or bus. The companies that manage the public transport system are
STIB : 4 metro lines, 19 tram services, 50 bus routes and 11 night bus routes
TEC and DE LIJN : buses to Wallonia and Flanders respectively
SNCB : trains
The most common tickets for tourists are :
1 fare MOBIB : €2.00
1 fare JUMP (purchased outside vehicle) €2.10
1 fare JUMP (purchased inside vehile) €2.50
5 Journeys JUMP : €8
10 journeys MOBIB : €12.50
10 journeys JUMP : €14.00
1 day JUMP : €7.00
The MOBIB ticket entitles you to 1 or 10 journeys, with a possibility to change between vehicles on the STIB network (except for the Bourget-Brussels Airport section of line 12 and 21)
The JUMP ticket entitles you to 1 or 5 or 10 journeys, with the possibility to change between lines, on the STIB (except for the Bourget-Brussels Airport section of line 12 and 21), DE LIJN and TEC and SNCB network in Brussels.
This means that the ticket entitles you to unlimited changes of metro, tram or bus for 60 minutes from the time you first validate the ticket. Do not forget to stamp/swipe your card on each new means of transport.
Return trip ticket : €4.00
This ticket entitles you to an outward journey and a return trip within 24 hours, with a possibility to change between lines on the STIB network (except for the Bourget-Brussels Airport section of line 12 and 21).
