Unique Hotels – Malaysia
A disused oil-rig was towed to the south-eastern coast of the Malaysian state of Sabah and refurbish to a hotel haven for scuba divers keen to explore the wrecks and reefs next to the tiny Mabul Island and Sipadan Island. The Seaventures Dive Rig Resort has 27 rooms including twin shares and family room, as well as a dormitory. There is also a movie room, a karaoke lounge and bar and pool tables to keep the guests entertained while they are not out diving. Beside the nearby islands, the reef directly below the oil-rig also has a large variety of tropical reef fishes, such as barracuda, giant morays, ribon eels, ghost pipe fish etc. And if you lucky you can even come across whale sharks.
